As one of the leaders of large ensembles in the post Maria Schneider era, Chris Jentsch - who is known as a conceptual composer/guitarist - received high reviews for Brooklyn Suite, released in 2007. In this CD, the nonet (made from core players of the New York large ensemble scene) depicts important historical events from before the arrival of the Europeans in 1492 to the Cold War with magnificent music. The contrasts that the guitar, sax, trombone, and trumpet make with the soft texture of the flute and clarinet are dramatic.
